Volunteer opportunities are ongoing throughout our housing, senior services, Hispanic services and refugee resettlement programs, as well as our neighborhood drop-in center. Consider joining us in our mission, providing support services to the economically poor and vulnerable in our region via any one of the following avenues . . .
- Prepare & share a meal with residents in our homeless housing programs
- Host a social/recreational event or wellness activity for seniors in our subsidized communities or adults in our homeless housing programs—movie or game nights, fitness class, etc.
- Meals on wheels delivery to seniors in Schenectady County
- Organize a clothing closet, food storage pantry, or furniture storage area in one of our homeless housing programs
- Provide computer literacy and Internet navigation instruction at one of our senior housing communities
- Provide office assistance in our Albany homeless shelters or neighborhood drop-in center—answering phones, filing, monitoring front door, copying & collation program & housing application materials
- Host a soft skill development in-service/training at our neighborhood drop-in center or homeless shelters in Albany (e.g. resume and job interview preparation; business correspondence instruction; personal finance/budgeting skills, etc.)
- Share a craft project with participants at Dayhaven, our adult day services program in Schenectady
- Participate in property maintenance projects such as painting, refurbishing resident community lounges, cleaning windows, etc.
- Volunteer your professional expertise in carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, etc. for major property improvements
- Transport donations of furniture to our homeless housing programs
- Provide seasonal grounds work & gardening at our communities for seniors—cleaning patios, edging & planting flower beds, etc.
- Seasonal assistance with holiday meals, parties, gift collection, wrapping, and/or delivery
